Another New Party in Town

There is a new Political party in Egypt that I receive its invitation to join its group in the facebook , yes through the facebook the newest way to attract members to political parties in Egypt. It is smart  and quick way to get more publicity for sure.

The party is “The reform and development party”. It is headed by Anwar Al Sadat , the former MP and the brother of MP Talaat Al Sadat. Both are nephews of late President and are considered as opponents to the regime currently. Anwar somehow is more stable and quieter than his brother. He is active politician as I see , he was active in the Salam ferry 98 case and is active up till now in the export of gas to Israel Case.

Anwar was member in the democratic front party but he had a nasty fight with Dr. Osama Ghazli Harb and had to leave the party.

Already the party is open for new members , it wants to have enough members to present its papers to the parties committee to be officially recognized by the state. The parties committee can approve or reject the party. Of course I should not forget to mention that this committee is headed by NDPian Safwat Al Sherif !!

Unfortunately despite those good intentions of forming liberal independent party in Egypt ,I expect it to be another shadow party not because of its members but rather the parties regulating laws are responsible for making any official party a weak shadow party in front of the ruling party “NDP”.

Still I wish all the luck to the new party and I hope that it will be a successful and powerful one for real despite the obstacles it will meet.
