Les Miserables

Al Masry Al Youm from two weeks published a small report  about an Egyptian construction worker who work on a daily basis from one site to another site independently. He is from those workers known in Egypt as “Fa’ala”. Anyhow what is unique about this worker and deserved to be mentioned in the newspaper is that he is originally teacher , French language teacher who was graduated from university of Asuit !!

Oh oui a university graduate !!

He worked for a while as a teacher then left teaching because it was not that profitable and enough for decent life , it seems that now the hard life of independent construction worker is better !!

This young man is not the only university graduate who took the same hard road , there are millions like him !!

I do not know why I remember “Les Miserables” when I read his story !!

  2. Our indignation is endless.
I was talking to a young policeman the other day, engaged in police because that's where they recruit: one of his duties is assisting the usher in case of housing eviction. That day he had participated in the eviction of an 87 years old man and another was a young woman with 3 children, the youngest being 2 months old. Both were French. This fellow, when talking to me, ,still had tears in his eyes.

I think those are the ones we have to convince to join us because they know they are on the wrong side.

  3. @anonymous, you welcome

@gabrielle, I believe you are right , unfortunately in Egypt I do not know how we can convince the police forces to join us , not the poor soldiers but officers ,it is much complicated with the power and the incentives the regime give them in order to ensure their loyalty
at least you saw in his eyes tears , our officers do not know the meaning of the word "tear"
